Made a few tweaks to the Mame-Beaglebone image. I’ve replaced Wahcade with AdvanceMENU. I like the look of Wahcade over AdvanceMENU but it lacks two features. AdvanceMENU re-builds the game list automatically when its started and can pull roms from multiple locations. With this new image you can run your roms from a external drive device connected to the USB port. Just unzip the sample external rom zip to the root of your USB drive and boot your BeagleBone with the drive connected.

Just wanted to thank you for the work with this image, this is exactly what I was looking for and was dreading having to reinvent the wheel.
Anyhow, just wanted to express my gratitude to you for the work you’ve put into this.
Thanks!
Hell0,
First : thanks for your img.
I’m actually working on a front end for mame writing in python and it’s just a little bit slow on my RPI so i buy a BBB. (pyrharckade.tuxme.net)
i’m actually flashing my BBB with yout lastest mamebone img and i’m wondering how many time it takes to complete the installation/flash before i panick 😉 (more then 1 hour ?)
Thanks 🙂
Wow, the front end looks really nice. I’ll have to give it a try today. Time to install the image should be no more than 10-15 mins. If you are having problems let me know and I will help you figure it out.
Thanks ,
i m not sure to do the good thing :
1/ dd if=mamebone.img of=/dev/sdX
2/ Put the sdcard in the BBB when it s down
3/ Keep button BOOT down of the BBB and plug the BBB to the power and wait that the 4 leds are fix on and release the button BOOT.
4/ Wait the 4 leds are fix and power down and restart the BBB
Is it the right way ?
Is the img will be in the eMMC after that and have we the same possibility to connect in 192.168.3.2 ?
This is the correct way to boot the image. I just download the image file and trying myself. It looks like the file might be damaged. I’ll update you shortly and let you know what I find.
Image works. If you have problems booting from the SD, or things do not appear to be working correctly after the boot try zeroing out your SD and then loading the image again…
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/
Ok i just back from work … start to re download the img and … :
0% [ ] 13 259 049 30,7KB/s eta 16h 7m
… arg 🙁
If you want a mirror i can (for free) put your img or have an access to a www rep with a sub domain on one of my serveur… just say ok 🙂
oh by the way … during the dl … i’do that :

You get what you pay for… and I dont pay much for my hosting. Sorry its so slow. If you want to mirror the image please do. I can upload it somewhere if thats faster for you.
Wow, awesome image. I’m spinning up a new mamebone image now and will add it in. I’m also planning on posting how to create an image from scratch for anyone who would like to build their own.
The img from scratch is a real good idee .
Tomorrow i’ll create a sub domain and a new space for the actuall img and the next img and i ll send you the link.
Thanks again 😉
